The Republic of Serbia is a multi ethnic state, where Serbians, Albanians, Montenegrins, Hungarians and many other population groups are living. Most of the population are Serbian-Orthodox. ECM is currently working in Zaječar.

Economy
Poorly served by 45 years of Communism. The breakup of the larger Yugoslav entity in 1991 and ensuing Balkan wars led to UN trade sanctions and NATO military intervention. The economy has grown rapidly since Milosevic was deposed, but as of 2009 had not yet surpassed the 1990 GDP levels.
